I see a light but do not know,
The path it brightens - doesn’t show;
And still ahead I see the light
Within the midst of blackened night;
But still the dark doth grow.
I see a light but cannot see,
If it be shining just for me,
Or if it shines for others who
Cannot be seen by me or you;
The ones who aren’t yet free.
I see a light within the haze,
And people coming just to gaze,
And try to guess where it could lead-
They ask it questions – cry and plead,
“Please lead me through the maze!”
I see a light and follow it;
I creep along there bit by bit,
And try to see where I should go,
But still I have no way to know-
The pathway isn’t lit.
I see a light; I’ll go on now,
Forever walking this I vow:
I’ll never stop as long as I
Can see that light shine in the nigh;
I know I’ll find out how.
